I had sashimi for the first time today. (I learned to distinguish between “sushi” and “sashimi” because sushi is the actual food in its entirety - rice, seaweed, and the contents inside. And sashimi is the actual raw fish.) On an outing to IKEA, we came across a Hot Pot N’ Sushi and I decided to finally try the stuff. It’s always looked so aethetically pleasing and rather appetizing, but the psychological issues had become the reason(s) for never trying it. I just couldn’t stomach (literally) the idea of consuming raw fish. Cooked fish alone makes me want to gag. But it was a pleasant surprise to find out that raw fish is 10x better than cooked fish. Go figure.
My dish of choice was a trio of spicy tuna rolls as it slowly glided in front of me on the track that goes throughout the general eating vicinity, where, in the middle, the chefs are rolling the sushi in front of you. Before I took a bite, I had to psych myself into the fact that it’s not going to be as vile as I think and that I’ll probably like it afterall. Turns out I do, it’s delicious. Can’t wait to get more sushi - or sashimi, to be more accurate. :)
4.5 million LEDs Dazzle at Japan Winter Light Show
…4.5 million LEDs lit up the Nabana no Sato theme park of Kuwana, Japan, kicking off their annual Winter Light Show that runs until March 8th. This year’s(2008) theme is one of flowers, illuminated in 64 billion colors that are reported to change color so quickly that they actually resemble a river more than a field of blooming plants.

I met someone in a hostel in Miyajima who comes from the town where they grow these cuboid watermelons. Fact.
